The Morning Routine
First things first. Did you know that, because Asians have a thick and compact dermis (the “middle” layer of skin, so to speak), it makes us our skin more skin more resistant to sagging and loss of firmness? But this attribute is also what makes us more prone to hyperpigmentation, as more melanin has to be produced to protect the deeper layers! I guess that’s what they mean by not having it all.
I wasn’t about to take my chances so, after cleansing and toning with Visible Whitening Smoothing Cleanser and Pore Minimizing Toner, I applied a layer of Melanin Control Day Essence. Now, I must admit that I regularly skip serum in the a.m., as I’m too lazy to wait for it to be absorbed before applying my other products.
But I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how quickly the essence sank into my skin, leaving practically no trace of it behind. Within a minute, I was able to move onto the next product, the Smooth and Brighten Emulsion. What further amazed me was the fact that brightening effects were instant. My skin certainly looked more “perked up” and well-rested. Reading up a little more about the product, I was heartened to find out that it provides multiple benefits. Not only does it reduce and prevent further pigmentation from occurring, it also supports skin’s natural collagen and elastin.
The Smooth and Brighten Emulsion is moisturiser that has a really smooth texture, albeit slightly thicker than what I was used to because of my oily skin. But I didn’t mind too much; I loved how hydrating it was (thanks to its hyaluronic acid derivative and botanical extracts), and I knew that hydration was what I was going to need a lot of in the days to come.
Finally, after applying a layer of sunblock, I was all ready to tackle the great outdoors!
