[Infographic] How To Treat A Pimple – Deborah Tan

Being on Accutane (a powerful drug used to treat cystic acne and some forms of cancers) gave me flawless skin. I was zit-free, my skin did not go crazy-oily even after a sweaty lunch at a hawker centre, and I never had to touch up my makeup. But I was well aware that being on a powerful drug for the long term wasn’t a solution to my acne woes.

Then I chanced upon an article where a dermatologist recommended using salicylic acid AND benzoyl peroxide together. The results were amazing. My skin cleared up in two weeks. Although it is still oily like the skin of an 18-year-old teenage boy, the zits are almost a thing of the past.

Now, whenever friends ask how they can deal with their breakouts, this solution is turning out to be my favourite response. I do get cries like, “WHAT? That sounds REALLY STRONG!”. But the infographic below should explain why it will work for most pimple-cases.

PS: I did not include this in my infographic. I found it extremely useful to GENTLY scrub my face before applying the dynamic duo of acne creams.
